Riverdale is a neighborhood located in central Toronto which also serves as the gateway to the eastern neighborhoods of the city. It is a vibrant community which comprises of shopping districts and a diverse array of cultures. The name Riverdale is taken from the famous Riverdale Park which is located within the boundaries of this neighborhood. There are three major commercial streets out here where residents are given the option of choosing from a variety of shops. Danforth Avenue which is also known as Greek Town, forms the northernmost border. This stretch of road comprises of the largest Greek community in North America and is also home to some of the best restaurants and bakeries serving Greek cuisine. One of the most famous food items here is the traditional Greek honey balls which is craved by people across the city. The second major commercial street here is Gerrard Street East which is commonly known as East Chinatown. Further south takes you to the third commercial street which is Queen Street East which mainly consists of young working professionals. The Riverdale Park is one of the largest green spaces in the city, situated adjacent to the river and provides a stunning view of Toronto’s skyline. Withrow Park in the neighborhood is another hangout spot famous among the residents. It consists of a soccer field, tennis court and a playground. Riverdale is one of last neighborhoods in Toronto which is still untouched. The streets here are lined with houses from the old Victorian era along with new condo developments that are coming up.
